Control Strategy
By modulating the water temperature on a boiler, fuel costs will be reduced. Every three degrees the boiler water temperature is dropped, 1% in fuel cost is saved. Most conventional heating systems are designed to operate based on the outside temperature on the coldest day of the year and do not recognize what the outdoor air temperature is on any given day. This means that the boiler is operating at the highest water temperature even on warm days. With outdoor reset controls the water temperature is modulated by the outside air temperature and will only supply the necessary BTU's to heat the building.
